2010 Common Wealth Games: Major Highlights

The Commonwealth Games program is being divided into 6 sections. Every single unit is special, the six sections are Rhythm of India, Swagatam , Tree of Knowledge, Yoga, Great Tree of Knowledge, Yoga, Great Indian journey and finally the CWG anthem by A.R Rahman. At last Fireworks went off filled the air in sky. When the laser framed fireworks illuminated the sky, it was an enthusiastic ceremony marking the hoisting of Asian games by India after 28 years.

A big event like Commonwealth Games is undoubtedly an event for lifetime. It’s for sure that this sports fiesta will be remembered as a remarkable event in the history of India and will definitely add more glitter to India's crown. {Commonwealth Games, 2010 fever in India is at acme and countdown for this amazing bouquet of exquisite sports has already began. The opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games, 2010 in its climax is the curtain raiser for the upcoming sporting events.} It is scheduled to start from October 3rd and continues upto October 14th.

The theme of the 19^th Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India was, Come out and Play, the outcome was more of a mixed bag that may well have left all of India wondering precisely what the country would have gained from the massive and expensive undertaking.

The competition was very good. The participating countries saw to it that they were well represented and the athletes gave of their best. True, some of the world’s leading athletes from Commonwealth nations failed to turn up and give the much-needed boost to the promotion of the Games, but those who did attend put on a relatively good show for the local and international communities. Indians are noted for their courtesy. At the Commonwealth Games the level of courtesy extended to all visitors, regardless, impressed everyone.

Like so many of the other facilities constructed for the Games the Games Village was a well designed complex that should otherwise have ranked as high as the Village prepared by the Chinese for the Olympics in Beijing in 2008. Unfortunately however the contractors were quite tardy. {It is true that there were some explanations provided that would have accounted for some of the delays but the organisers have only themselves to blame. There were certain hiccups in the starting of the games but negligence from the part of contractors was evident in the constructions} Excess of money was spend but the result was daunting. As with several of the other facilities the Village was not quite complete. The buildings all showed signs of incomplete work. They all lacked the finishing touches.
